It's not hard being a food cricket! Our main goal is to help introduce people to some of the best independent and local restaurants, in order to get them away from the big chains. Food should be fun, unique and delicious, and that is what we are after!

DayCay! Oklahoma: Kiamichi Country

Get ready for some fun in the Hochatown/Broken Bow area!

Ice cream for breakfast? Well, you can if you like. Okie Girls Coffee & Ice Cream in Broken Bow is open, slinging out some great coffee and ice cream for your caffeine or sugar rush (or both) needs.

Are you ready for some ridiculously good fried chicken? Look no further than Blue Rooster in Broken Bow. Make sure to get the hot chicken. Trust.

Next, visit Beavers Bend State Park for a great outdoor experience. Explore, hike, go rafting or canoeing and much more in this beautiful area.

Finally, head on over to Abendigo’s in Hochatown which is actually across the highway from Blue Rooster, oddly enough. Good atmosphere, great food.

Now, that’s a day we’ll spent.

Daycay! Oklahoma: Frontier Country

Time for a visit to Sooner Territory aka Norman and the nearby towns of Moore and Noble.

Hummus Mediterranean Cafe is the perfect spot to get fresh hummus and a great variety of Mediterranean dishes. We personally like the Pine Nuts Hummus which is loaded with toasted pine nuts.

Next, get dessert at Rusty’s Custard Factory! They have the decadent custard options you’ve been dreaming of. May we suggest the chocolate peanut butter bliss that is the Union Boss concrete?

Then move on over to the Sam Noble Museum for a blast from the past. The Pentaceratops skull on display in the museum has the Guinness World Record for the largest skull. What?

Last but not least, head to Kendall’s in Noble. Oddly enough, The restaurant has the Grand Ladies of Oklahoma Museum honoring Oklahoman female music pioneers. The food is pretty grand too. Kendall’s is known for their giant chicken fried steaks, scrumptious cinnamon rolls (served with your meal), and their Chicken Fry Challenge!

Now that’s a good day!

Daycay! Oklahoma: Arbuckle Country

Time for a roadtrip! We have the perfect one day vacation for you nestled in the small towns of Davis and Paul’s Valley.

First off, catch a fried pie (or two) for breakfast or lunch at Arbuckle Fried Pies in Davis. This place has some of the very best we’ve had and we’ve had a lot! A big golden, flakey crust surrounds a center full of deliciousness that happens to come in several different varieties, even savory. Our favorites include Pecan, Coconut Cream, Pizza, and Bacon Breakfast fried pies.

Next, head over to Paul’s Valley to visit the Toy and Action Figure Museum. Dioramas depict war scenes for G.I. Joes. A mock bedroom is like a search and find for all of your favorite childhood toys. There’s a Batcave with an impressive collection of (what else?) Batman merchandise. Action figures hang from the ceiling. There’s so much detail and so much too see of both old and even newer playthings.

After that, visit Bedre Fine Chocolate back in Davis for a some sweet stuff to take home. They have several varieties of decadent meltaways and even chocolate covered potato chips. Plus, there’s a window-lined wall that allows for a view of the inner workings of the chocolate factory. So cool!

Then head over to Smokin’ Joe’s Rib Ranch for dinner and a perfect end to the day. The ribs are delish here but you can’t really go wrong no matter what you get. Word of advice, do not leave without trying the Strawberries on a Cloud. Trust.

Now, get out and have some fun!
